1. About this policy
This policy covers the Divya Jyot website. The Divya Jyot mobile app has its own privacy policy inside the app; where the two services share an account, both apply.
It was written by reviewing what the website’s code actually does, and it describes only practices that exist today. In this policy, “Divya Jyot”, “we” and “us” mean the operator of the Divya Jyot website and app.
2. Free tools used without an account
The Kundali and Cosmic Score tools ask for your name, date of birth, time of birth and place of birth. These are processed only inside your browser to calculate your results. They are not sent to our servers, not stored in cookies or browser storage, and are cleared when you reload or leave the page.
Your name is used only to address the result to you. It is not used in any calculation.
Birth-place search runs on a place list built into the website (derived from the GeoNames database). The text you type is not sent to any search or mapping service.
The monthly Panchang and Muhurat calendars are calculated on our server from the place you choose from our list and the month you are viewing. No personal information is part of that request.
3. Signing in
User accounts are created in the Divya Jyot mobile app, not on this website. When you sign in here, your email address and password are sent to Supabase Auth, the sign-in service Divya Jyot uses; we never see your password. After sign-in, the website reads your account profile to show your dashboard.
Pandits sign in with a one-time code sent to their email address by Supabase Auth.
4. Pandit applications
If you apply to join Divya Jyot as a Pandit, you first confirm your email address with a one-time code sent by Supabase Auth. The form then collects your full name, mobile number, email address, city, state or region, years of experience, and a description of your practice. This is stored so that our administrators can review the application and contact you about it.
To prevent automated or repeated abuse of the application form, we keep a record of recent submission attempts. That record stores one-way hashed forms of the phone number, email address and network (IP) address — not the values themselves.
5. Information collected automatically
Like any website, pages are delivered to your browser by a web server, which receives technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested. This is processed by our hosting provider to deliver the website.
The website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how it is used — for example which pages are visited, which language is chosen and which tools are opened. Google Analytics receives the page address, general device, browser and approximate-location information, and these usage events; it never receives your name, date, time or place of birth, coordinates, calculation results, email address or phone number. Google signals and advertising personalisation are turned off, and the website does not use advertising trackers or social-media tracking pixels. You can block Google Analytics with your browser’s privacy settings or with Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
6. Cookies and similar technology
dj_locale: remembers the language you chose, so the website opens in it next time. It contains only a language code and lasts for one year.
Sign-in sessions: when a user signs in, Supabase keeps the session in your browser’s local storage so you stay signed in. Pandit and administrator sign-in uses secure session cookies set by our server. These are needed for the signed-in pages to work and are removed when you sign out or the session ends.
Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_…) to tell visits apart and count returning visitors. They contain a random identifier, not your name or birth details, and last up to two years. No advertising cookies are set.
7. How we use information
We use information only to provide the website’s features: calculating results you request, signing you in, reviewing Pandit applications, answering messages you send us, measuring website traffic and understanding how the website is used (through Google Analytics, as described in sections 5 and 6), and keeping the service secure and free from abuse.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
8. Service providers
Supabase provides sign-in, the database and server functions for Divya Jyot accounts and Pandit applications.
Hostinger hosts the website.
Google Analytics, a service provided by Google, measures website traffic and how the website is used, as described in sections 5 and 6. It does not receive the details you enter into the free tools.
Payments for paid features are made in the mobile app and processed by Razorpay, as described in the app’s privacy policy. The website itself does not take payments or handle card details.
These providers process information on our behalf to deliver their part of the service.
9. Security
Privileged operations run on the server, never in your browser. Access to account data is enforced by database access rules, and administrative access requires multi-factor authentication. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect the information we hold.
10. How long information is kept
Guest tool entries are not kept at all. Account information is kept while your account exists; when an account is closed, the app’s deletion process removes or clears the identifying details, as described in the app’s privacy policy. Pandit applications are kept while they are under review and for as long as needed to administer the Pandit programme.
Formal retention periods have not yet been set and will be stated in the reviewed version of this policy.
11. Your choices
You can use the free tools without giving us any information. You can ask us to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, or to close your account, by writing to the address below. Account closure can also be requested from within the mobile app.
Depending on where you live, the law may give you further rights; we will handle requests in line with the law that applies.
12. Children
The website is not directed at children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when the website changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
